Services

The Ketchikan Pride Alliance is still a small organization, made up entirely of volunteers. We are seeking to diversify our funding with the hopes of being able to support a full time employee within the next few years. In the meantime, we rely heavily on our volunteers and community partners to offer our services. All of our offerings align with our mission of supporting the local LGBTQIA2S+ community and allies through education, outreach, inclusiveness, and community. We seek to help connect people to resources, offer support, and reduce conflict.

Opportunities for Connection

We have ongoing activities to provide space for LGBTQ+ individuals and their allies to connect and build friendships. In addition to our annual Pride Events in June, we host:

  • a coffee hour the first Saturday of every month at 11am at the Pilot House

  • a Pride Popup Bar the fourth Friday of every month at the Arctic Bar

We also seek to build visibility, share our stories, and decrease isolation for LGBTQIA2S+ people across Southeast Alaska with our quarterly zine Loud and Queer.

Confidential Support and Resource Connection

The volunteers at KPA understand that navigating identity can be exciting, emotional and challenging. Whether you are questioning your own sexual orientation, gender identity, or romantic orientation - or trying to support a loved one who is a member of the LGBTQIA2S+ community - we are available for support. Connect with us at ketchikanpridealliance@gmail.com or on social media. We will get back to you as quickly as we can, and you can meet one-on-one with one of our volunteers, or get connected with needed information or resources over email or social media. Communication with KPA will remain confidential.

Education

Education is key to creating a safer, more inclusive community for all. We have partnered with WISH’s Education Department to offer a free LGBTQIA2S+ terms and identity training that can be facilitated with any agency that requests it. We can adapt this training to any specific concerns your agency wants to cover in regards to the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Contact ketchikanpridealliance@gmail.com or jd.m@wishak.org to request a training!
